We use massive amounts of plastic in our daily lives, but have we ever considered what happens to the plastic once we throw it away?  Many people don't realize that plastic was made to be a "perfect" material; it is indestructible.  It does not decay once thrown away in the environment.  Once thrown away, the material is broken down into tiny pieces through erosion, but never completely goes away.  Fish and animals eat the plastic, and it can end up right back in our bodies through our consumption of these animals.  All plastic contains BPA which is a chemical that is studied to have harmful effects on our bodies.  This data inspired me to construct this piece so others are aware and more careful with their plastic use.
