Our charge for Art in the Garden was, in part, to consider
the differences between exterior and interior sculpture. Here, I have attempted
to make both, to create a dialogue between the outside and the inside, between
the viewer and the work, perhaps even between two viewers experiencing the work
simultaneously. Like most of my work, Tour
is an exploration of the expressive potential of circular forms and an
acknowledgement of art I admire—in this case, one of my favorite sculptures, The Passing Winter, by one of my
favorite artists, Yayoi Kusama.
