Creature of the Night: fabric and metal
Combining my newfound love of fabric work with my usual aesthetic and metal work, this piece was a base dress constructed from scratch with fantasy elements and structure added, as well as atmosphere that transformed it into more of an installation or performance piece. The wings and petticoat structure turned the dress from simply fashion or a costume into an art piece, and the interactive lighting concept of each participant having their own flashlights as the only illumination not only drove home the voyeristic nature of the piece, but also emphasized my main draw in the material and intention, which was to explore the way iridescent moving fabric exists under light.
