One Wheel
2019
backhoe tire, steel, paint, bicycle seat and cranks
8' x 4' x 5'

It has become apparent to me that learning to ride a bicycle sets you up for failure and disappointment in the future.  A bicycle’s very design advocates for the dependence of a relationship between one wheel and another.  The ability to support yourself on a single wheel is a life skill that should be taught to children early on and the unicycle provides the frame and structure to develop physical, mental, and emotional autonomy and sustainability without the dependence of a relationship with another wheel, or person for that matter.

Watch Where You Touch
2019
salt, water, flour, cable, peg board
7' x 3.5' x 5"

This is the story of a dual sided dough wall. It fell from the sky and landed right here, right in this spot. No one knows why. It is touchable, moldable, and comforting. But come a little too close and you might get poked! The wall is double minded and unpredictable. But if you find the right combination of both sides, and look a little deeper, it will reveal something to you. You might get to see its undisclosed psyche. The soft side is held by the pokey side and the pokey side has nothing to hold on to without the soft side. If the wall decides you're an ally, it will willingly hold on to your impression. Interesting. Get close, be gentle, and it might take you back up into the sky.

Adorned

2019

Mosaic tile, preserved moss, found/discarded objects, stone, grout, glue

Multiple Dimensions

Broken, discarded, and empty, a series of objects are collected and reformed. Inspired by all the trash that sits in our landscape and surrounding environment today, I transform these objects into something other than trash that will ultimately blend in with the environment while also putting these objects to a decorative use.

Self Embodiment

Through the creation of these hands I’ve learned a great deal about myself and the standards I live by. By doing so I’ve gone back to my roots, working on the core ideals to better myself as a human being. Self Embodiment is my attempt to convey this with the objects I’ve gathered and altered through the unassumingly simple process of carving. Through this process each objects own unique character is developed and set on their own journey.
