Set in the 1920s, The Wild Party by Andrew Lippa is a show about a passionate and often
times violent relationship between vaudeville performer Queenie and her brute
lover: Burrs the Clown. I conveyed these
haphazard emotions through the concept of ‘barebones’ and the idea of
transparency - both in people and the objects they interact with. The bed especially
notices these themes; the posts are broken and reattached recklessly in a way
that reflects the unhealthy relationship of Queenie & Burrs.
